The Fauna of the Jurrasic Sea
With the exception of a few islands, present-day Europe was submerged under an inland sea during the Jurassic, 180 million years ago. The habitat of the animals whose fossils we can today find in the quarries of Holzmaden and Ohmden was a large bay occupying roughly the area taken up by today's southern Germany.
